Ingredients
To begin, grab a mixing bowl.
To make the mixture, put rice flour and finely chopped onions into the mixing bowl.
Add grated carrot and chopped methi leaves to the mixture. Alternatively, you can use dill leaves or any other vegetable you prefer.
Next, add chopped coriander leaves and 1/2 teaspoon of cumin seeds.
Next, add the chopped ginger and finely chopped green chillies. If you're making this for children, it's best to omit the green chillies.
Add salt to the mixture according to the desired taste.
Mix all the ingredients with the flour until well combined.
Mixing the ingredients thoroughly is important to ensure that the salt and other components are evenly distributed throughout the flour.
Next, add two tablespoons of oil.
Mix it again with the flour.
To knead the dough, use 1.5 cups of hot water. It's essential to ensure the water is hot and not at room temperature.
To knead the dough, add water gradually and mix well.
To make akki rotis, we must knead a soft dough, as demonstrated below. The dough is now prepared.
To prepare the rotis, we will require butter paper. Rather than using a rolling pin, we will use our palms to create the rotis. To begin, place a piece of butter paper on a flat surface and coat it with some oil. Take a dough ball about the size of an onion, and place it between two sheets of butter paper.
Gently press and move your fingers in a circular motion from the centre to the edges of the object.
Gently press on all sides towards the edge, ensuring the centre is not too thick and evenly spread out.
To begin, heat a tawa and apply a light layer of oil to grease it.
Use butter paper to flip the roti on the tawa.
Gently peel off the butter paper from the roti.
Add oil to the pan and cook on one side for at least 2 minutes.
To enhance the flavour and texture of your roti, try applying some oil on both sides before flipping it over.
Cover with a lid and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
Once both sides of the roti are cooked, it usually takes about 4-5 minutes to ensure it is cooked thoroughly.
After removing it from the plate, serve the dish hot with coconut chutney.
