Ingredients
  

  • 400 grms Rosted Rice Flour
  • 300 grms Jaggery
  • 1 No Wole grated Coconut
  • Some Raisins
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • some Cardamom Powder

Equipment

  • 1 bottom vessel
  • 1 Steamer

Method
 

  1. Modak recipe ingredients
  2. Take a bottom vessel and add some water to it.
  3. Add Salt to the Boiling water.
  4. Then add 1 tbsp, Ghee.
  5. Add Rice Flour to the boiling water, mix it well, and turn off the flame.
  6. Heat the Jaggery with ½ cup of water and let the Jaggery melt completely.
  7. Once the dough is warm, you can start kneading the dough.
  8. Knead it to a soft dough
  9. Cover it with a lid and keep it aside
  10. Once the jaggery is completely melted, add other ingredients.
  11. Add freshly grated Coconut and mix it well.
  12. Mix everything properly
  13. Add 2-3 tsp of Ghee
  14. Now add Cardamom Powder as per taste.
  15. Now add some raisins.
  16. Mix it well until the mixture is dry
  17. Take a lemon-sized dough ball, pat it on a small puri, and give it a Modak shape.
  18. Please place them in a Steamer and steam them on high flame for 10 mins.
  19. Check after 10-15 minutes, and the Modaks are ready!!

Notes

• Choose the rice flour wisely, we get Modak Rice Flours in the market, Rice flour used to make Modaks are made with Basmati Rice. So it gives a nice aroma to the flour
• Make sure the ratio of the water used to melt the jaggery is taken as shown in the video.
• The filling should have the right consistency to make perfect Modaks
• Knead a soft dough so make soft modaks
