  • 1 tbsp Pav Bhaji Masala
  • ½ tsp Red Chilly Powder
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • Some Coriander Chopped

Equipment

  • Thick Iron Pan
  • Vegetable Masher

Method

  1. Take an Iron Tawa for this recipe, since this is a Tawa pulav ideally we should make this in a Tawa
. In the streets of Mumbai it is made on a huge Iron Tawa. If you don’t have an iron tawa then you may use a kadhai for the same or a normal chapatti tawa
  2. Heat the tawa and add some butter, Around 2-3 tbsp of butter and let it melt
  3. Once the butter melts add chopped onions and fry them until soft and translucent
  4. Add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  5. After frying it on a high flame for about a 1 min the onions are now translucent and pink
  6. Now we can add chopped tomatoes into the tawa and cook it on a highflame until soft and mushy
  7. Adding some salt, adding salt helps in cooking the tomatoes faster
  8. After 2-3 mins of cooking on a high flame, the tomatoes are soft and mushy
  9. Use a Potato masher and mash the tomatoes well over the tawa
  10. Once the tomatoes are nicely mashed add chopped capsicum to it
  11. Fry the capsicum for about 30 secs and then add boiled green peas – Green peas was cooked in the cooker on 2 whistles.
  12. now add Boiled Potatoes
  13. Now add all dry masala over it – Pav Bhaji Masala, Chopped Coriander leaves, Red Chilly Powder & Turmeric Powder
  14. Now stir fry all the masalas well for 30 secs to 1 min on high flame
  15. Now add 1 tbsp of Butter for added flavour and taste and mix all masala well
  16. Now time to add cooked rice into the spicy tangy masala – The masala and rice quantity should be equal. Unlike normal pulav the rice should not be more than the masala
  17. Now using two stapulas mix the rice and masala very well and keep it on a high flame will mixing it continuously for about 30 secs
  18. Garnish it with some chopped coriander leaves
  19. Mix everything well on a medium flame now so the rice is coated well with the masala
  20. Hot and Spicy Tawa Pulav is ready to be served!!
