unniyappam ingredients
To the Rice flour, add rawa and refined flour.
Melt the jaggery with 1 cup of water.
Once the jaggery melts, strain it to remove any particles
Pour hot jaggery water into the flour mix.
Mix it using a whisker to form a smooth batter.
The batter should be dosa consistent.
Grind Banana and grated coconut together to form a paste.
Mix the banana and coconut paste with the batter and mix it well.
Mix it well
Now add cumin seeds, cardamom powder and¼ tsp of Salt
Roast the chopped coconut in 2-3 tbsp of ghee until golden brown.
Pour the roasted coconut into the batter immediately
Let it rest for at least 30 mins (It is recommended to keep it for 3-4 hours for best results)If you want instant appams, then add a pinch of baking soda and fry them immediately. Heat Oil in an Appam pan, pour the batter and fry them on low flame until done on each side.
Turn them around occasionally, so they cook from all sides
Once done, transfer them to a paper towel or tissues to soak in the extra oil
Delicious Unniappams are ready.
