Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 500 grams Lauki Dudhi or Bottle Gourd
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Almonds and Cashews
  • 75 grams Khoya
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 3-4 tbsp Ghee
  • 1/4 tsp Cardomom Powder

  • Lauki Ka Halwa Ingredients
  • To prepare the Lauki Ka Halwa, begin by peeling off the outer skin of Bottegourd.
  • After peeling, wash it well and then cut it into equal pieces.
  • Only grate the outer green portion of the Botte gourd; the inside white portion with seeds is not required.
  • Now you can see that all the Bottegourd is Grated propely
  • Heat a Pan and add 2 tbsp of ghee
  • Then add the grated bottlegourd and fry this for 1-2 mins, stir continuously.
  • Now add milk and cook it on a low flame for 2-3 mins by covering with a lid.
  • After 2-3 minutes, open the lid and check if the bottle gourd is soft and has released most of the milk.
  • Let the dish simmer on low heat for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Now, add around 6-7 tablespoons of sugar and mix well. You can adjust the amount of sugar according to your taste.
  • Cook it for another 2-3 minutes until the moisture evaporates. Check and add more sugar if needed, depending on taste.
  • Meanwhile the Halwa is getting cooked, Roast the khoya in another pan.
  • Roast the khoya by strring continuosly until the color changes.
  • Once the khoya is roaster then keep it aside.
  • Now Halwa has no extre moisture now, so we can add the other ingredients.
  • Add roasted khoya and chopped dry fruits.
  • Mix it thoroughly so the koya is mixed well in the Halwa.
  • Next, add approximately 2 tablespoons of ghee and thoroughly blend it in.
  • Lastly, sprinkle some cardamom powder over the mixture and give it one last stir before turning off the heat.
  • Lauki ka halwa or Dudhi ka halwa is ready to be served!!
